About BAOU
Established in 1994 under the Gujarat State Legislature. Serving 8,00,000+ learners across 7 Regional Centres and 300+ Study Centres with a mission of "Education for All".
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) was established by Act No.14 of 1994 passed by the Gujarat State Legislature on 13th April 1994, and assented to by the Governor of Gujarat on 27th July 1994. It is the seventh Open University in India.
The University is headquartered at 'Jyotirmay' Parisar, Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, Chharodi, Ahmedabad – 382 481. It operates through 7 Regional Centres and 300+ Study Centres across Gujarat, offering 80+ programmes to more than 8,00,000 learners.
BAOU is accredited with NAAC A++ Grade (3.55 CGPA on 4 Point Scale), granted UGC Category-I Graded Autonomy Status, and recognised by UGC-DEB for both Open & Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Programmes. The University is committed to its motto of "Education for All" by providing inclusive, flexible, and technology-enabled higher education.
